Wax Paintings - encaustic student grade

Students are given a small lecture on encaustic paint and then we melt crayons in small tin cups on the grill.  Students paint their pictures on canvas paper or cloth. The images are transferred onto paper using an iron (perhaps 3- or more times) until all the waxy substance is gone, what is left is a nice flexible batik type artwork.
